Today in syndication, you'll see mostly one of two opening credits for Father Knows Best; both credits begin with a shot of the house, and either Jim and Margaret are by the stairs, or the family is in the dining room (with Kathy ready to jump the rope). Actually there were four different openings throughout the run (and the last three seasons each had unique musical accompanyments). For your enjoyment here, watch each one, complete with sponsor tags!
During its original run, Robert Young would face the camera at the end of each episode and promote next week's show. See a sampling of those here!
Season Five (1958-59).
Alternate opening. It was sponsored by Lever Brothers (All Detergent, Lux Liquid Soap). Announcer - unknown.
Father Knows Best was so popular when the show ended production in 1960, that CBS ran it for the next two years (1960-1962) on the primetime schedule (evenings). Then ABC aired it primetime in 1962-1963. It had various sponsors. Here is a sampling of those sponsors.
